With the recent developments in Afghanistan, thousands of Afghans have fled and continue to feel their homeland. Many were airlifted to Western countries while many more had to flee by foot, ending up in bordering countries. Here at Silk Road Catalyst, we are committed to doing what we can to serve those who fled on foot into bordering countries.
Recently, an SRC team traveled to one of the many places where Afghans have fled to, where they got to spend time with some of these families. They discovered many things including their lack and need of crucial access to adequate food and clean water. While we cannot meet the needs of tens of thousands, our aim is to start by serving 100 of these families, accounting for 700 people.
One food package for one family costs $35 USD. This feeds them for approximately one month. A water holding tank plus a one months supply of water is approximately $55 USD ($15 is the actual water cost) and we need 50 of them, which is one months supply. These items plus the cost to deliver and arrange these crucial necessities will be approximately $7000 USD. Again, this will provide for 100 Afghan families for about one month. This is $10 per person or $70 per family.
As of September 16, 2021 (7PM EDT/New York), we have approximately $6180 USD so need an additional $820 USD. If you would like to be part of this crucial effort, please use the following link to give online. https://bit.ly/2C3tSss
