We had another wonderful time of fellowship in our Discipleship Zoom group today.
Last week, I introduced the Church Circle, a teaching tool that covers the basics of being a disciple as well as a church. Going forward, we will dive into each of these topics with the goal of modeling how each of the group members can start a group and go through the same study with existing or new believers.
Today, we focused on the Good News. I learned that one of the students learned that there is no end in sight for their lockdown on campus. They were expecting to be able to get off campus soon but was told it could be months. He can only leave for two hours twice a week so our group is planning to do lunch with him soon and he was very excited about that. Despite this news that was really crushing to hear, he had the opportunity to share the Gospel with one of the students on his campus. This same student recently started a new Discipleship group on his campus.
Ramadan 2020 began last night. As they pray, we want to pray for them. Periodically over the next month, we will highlight a Muslim people group (or Muslims in a specific country/region) and we ask that you join with us in prayer for them. To begin, we are highlighting a people group close to our hearts, the Hui in China.
The following is a translated prayer focused on the Hui (回族) of China. The person praying in the audio is a Hui Jesus follower. The Hui people is a Muslim people group originating in China comprising of approximately 15 million people. Last checked, there were just a few thousand Jesus followers and maybe a few known Hui based house churches. Other than that, they are predominantly Muslim.
Please join with us in prayer for the Hui people of China.
Today on my coaching call, I was with my dear brother from Africa, we discussed starting little churches. We discussed how simple little home-based churches are important in places where the authorities are hostile.
As we discussed, he tells me of the Bible Study he began with a local family. The apartment he is in right now, while we are on this call, belongs to this family. The dad used to work in the police department (he's retired now) and the apartment community was specifically designated for local police officials and their families.
In this Bible study, the father came to faith while this man’s wife and daughter were already believers. The group grew and ultimately included two high level local police officers within the department.
Maybe your schedule has gotten weird with the stay at home order. I’m up at 3 in the morning studying Matthew 24-25. I believe it is a good time to revisit these chapters and get a grip on what Jesus is saying here.
One of the flagship verses planted deep in my heart is Matthew 24:14. Before the end that Jesus is teaching about in Matthew 24 comes, the gospel will go to every ethnic group. It will NOT magically go to them. Followers of Jesus, the elect, will bring it to them. Jesus says this after He says the world will bring great tribulation upon his followers, even killing his followers, and that they will be hated by all nations.
Praise reports, updates, and just about anything important that is written by someone within our global Silk Road Catalyst family.
