Our Response to the Turkey/Syria Earthquake Crisis

Two major earthquakes hit SE Turkey and Northern Syria early in the morning on Monday February 6, 2023. They were registered at 7.8 and 7.5. Since that day, several additional earthquakes have hit along with over 10k aftershocks. The confirmed death toll is nearing 52k with thousands still missing, and over 1.5 million have become homeless as a result. In terms of infrastructure, over 160k buildings have collapsed or are damaged beyond repair. This resulted in a loss of over 680k family homes plus all that was inside their homes.
There are several great organizations that you can give to who are doing legitimate and much needed relief work, although the vast majority of them are operating in Turkey. For us at Silk Road Catalyst, we want to have an impact where the larger aid groups may not be reaching. In this case, it's Syrian community in Turkey and Syria.
We have partnered with a small network of churches nationwide who have been serving Syrian refugees and Syrians in Syria for years. Together, we are delivering food, clothing, and other necessities to those who lost everything. As of today, March 7, 2023, $38k has been donated and all of it will be used to deliver needed aid to affected Syrian families.
