This time last week, I was sipping on a cup of lemonade with mint while sitting awkwardly on the floor as I met with a refugee family. I learned about their successful business and their family farm back in their home country, which they lost entirely due to a civil war. Today, they are outcasts and displaced in a foreign country, and this isn’t by choice. As some of you know, I visited the Middle East last week. I went to explore how and where Silk Road Catalyst should initially get involved. One the areas I looked into was the refugee work being led by national believers. And, it was amazing. Now, I don’t have all the answers as to how SRC will be involved long-term in the Middle East at this moment, but I do know that serving this refugee population will be part of it for now. I say that because I saw God clearly at work around them. I get that God is at work everywhere but this was one of those situations where it was clear that God had me there for a reason. The Muslim families these nationals are serving are hearing the Gospel. They are hearing it and seriously thinking through what they are learning. However, many more have yet to hear it one time. Many still live in horrible conditions. And, many are struggling to survive daily while facing a tremendous amount of discrimination. We may not be able to fix their daily living situation but we will do whatever we can to deliver the Bread of Life so they have a chance at eternal life. Please be praying for the refugees in this area (sorry I can’t share where publicly) and for the national believers who are serving them daily. And while you’re at it, pray for us at SRC as we discern our next steps in that region, specially where I visited last week.
