We're excited to share with you that 25 people in Asia recently gave their lives to Christ. And, while this alone is enough to share and celebrate, there is so much more to this story that makes this one of the most powerful stories I’ve had the privilege of sharing with you thus far. Let me explain. These 25 were led to Christ by Abbaad (SRC missionary), and they just so happen to be his extended family. Considering their religious background, it was a challenge sharing the Gospel with them but it wasn’t just a logistical challenge. Abbaad’s father tried to kill him, not once but twice. His mother-n-law poisoned him and I’m not talking about an attempted poisoning but this landed Abbaad in the hospital. The doctors had given up on treating Abbaad, telling him, "You will die from this". Yet, God clearly had another plan. And while this is difficult to imagine, it went another step further.
Abbaad’s family kidnapped his wife and held her for two years. All this was done to force them back into their birth religion and denounce Christ. Yet through it all, Abbaad and his wife were not deterred. All this to say, when his family realized that they were not going to renounce Christ, they ultimately rejected him as part of the family. Yet over the past 20 years, Abbaad has continued to reach out to them. When they spoke with him, he took every opportunity to share the Gospel, which wasn't often. He persevered and it paid off. Now, 5 brothers and their families have all accepted Christ, 25 people in total! Let’s join with Abbaad and praise God for this breakthrough but let’s also pray for his family as they are already facing a lot of pressure from their local (former) religious community. Pray also for Abbaad as he works to disciple and encourage them in their new walk with Christ. Check out this story as well, "Tea Time with the Insane" - click here
